ROCKWOOL Cool ‘n’ Comfort is an insulation range specifically designed for single- or double-layer metal roof systems, with or without skylights, meeting required U-values to achieve Roof Thermal Transfer Value (RTTV) in accordance with design standards. The product can also be supplied with a radiant barrier facing, making it suitable for various types of commercial and industrial roofing systems.
Cool ‘n’ Comfort effectively reduces solar heat gain through the roof in non-air-conditioned buildings. For air-conditioned buildings, it helps significantly lower energy consumption and reduce operating costs. With its advanced properties, the product contributes to the development of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and fire-safe roofing systems, providing a cooler, safer, and more comfortable indoor environment.
ROCKWOOL stone wool products are manufactured without the use of CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, or asbestos, ensuring safety for both human health and the environment.
Water Repellency
The ROCKWOOL Cool ‘n’ Comfort range is specially treated with a water-repellent silicone coating that covers each individual stone wool fiber. This treatment enables the product to repel rainwater upon contact while maintaining excellent thermal and acoustic performance, even after exposure to moisture.
As Cool ‘n’ Comfort is often installed or temporarily stored outdoors during construction, the integrated silicone water-repellent treatment is provided as a standard feature to protect the material and ensure long-term performance and durability.
Applications
Metal roofing systems are generally classified into single-layer metal roofs and double-layer metal roofs.
For single-layer metal roof systems, the insulation material is installed beneath the metal roof sheet and secured with reinforced steel mesh and an aluminium foil facing, laid over the purlins. This is a cost-effective and widely adopted solution for most industrial buildings. In this system, ROCKWOOL Cool ‘n’ Comfort RL provides a lightweight, non-combustible, and efficient insulation solution, ensuring reliable thermal performance and enhanced fire safety.

Double-layer metal roof systems are high-performance roofing systems consisting of a top metal sheet (trapezoidal or standing seam) and a trapezoidal metal liner tray beneath. The two metal layers are connected by Z-shaped purlins, creating a cavity for the installation of insulation material and a vapor barrier. When combined with ROCKWOOL Cool ‘n’ Comfort SL stone wool insulation, the double-layer roof system is significantly enhanced in terms of thermal insulation, acoustic performance, and fire safety.
Cool ‘n’ Comfort SL is a semi-rigid board available in various sizes, allowing easy installation and a precise fit between purlins, ensuring optimal performance for double-layer metal roofing systems.
